ScitonTM Broadband Light (BBL) is the most advanced version of intense pulsed light (IPL) that utilizes a third generation intense pulsed light technology patented in United States.

BBL is an innovative non-invasive skin treatment that uses light energy to stimulate collagen remodeling, and correct a broad range of skin conditions associated with aging, active life-styles, and sun damage. Treatments can be tailored to match different skin types to achieve desired results.

The light energy delivered by the BBL will gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas will stimulate the skin cells to regenerate new collagen. This process will restore the skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, vibrant and younger looking. In addition, the photothermal energy will eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin that produces pigmented lesions.

What Conditions can BBL treat?

Sciton BBL laser is effective in treating conditions such as:

  • Pigmented Lesions (e.g., freckles, age spots)
  • Vascular Lesions (e.g., small blood vessels)
  • Acne
  • Skin Firmness
  • Uneven Skin Texture
  • Rosacea
  • Unwanted Hair

The most common areas are those widely exposed to the damaging effects of sunlight. The most popular are the face, neck, back of the hands, chest and shoulders.

The number of treatments required varies patient to patient, and a treatment plan will be tailored based on the skin condition and level of improvement desired. BBL treatment may also be combined with other aesthetic procedures, such as SkinTyte 2, to further enhance the effects.

The patient's eyes will be protected with safety shields or glasses. A brief warm "rubber band snap" sensation may be felt as the light is absorbed by the targeted areas. The procedure may take a few minutes to half an hour depending on the size of the area to be treated and the type of procedure performed. The procedure is gentle, noninvasive, and safe. Generally, there is no need for a topical anaesthetic, however, it may be applied on more sensitive areas prior to the procedure.

After the treatment, the patient may experience some redness that should resolve within a few hours. For some pigmented lesions, a darkening of the treated areas may be seen, but it usually fades and flakes off in a few days. With a series of treatments, skin will feel smoother, fine lines and pores will be less noticeable, and sunspots or uneven pigmentation will fade. Results will depend on the patient's condition, the number of treatments, and the area treated.

BBL treatment is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, patients are able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of their daily activities immediately.

As the treated area(s) will be sensitive to UV radiation, it is important to avoid direct sun exposure until completely healed. You may be given some skincare products and instructions on how to use them. Patients are strongly advised to use sun protection after any skin treatment.
